About our Kiwanis club

For more than 105 years, the Kiwanis Club of Newark, Ohio, has served the children of our community locally and across the world. Club members exhibit what it means to be a Kiwanian by working hard, having fun, and volunteering to help make the world a little better.

The bulk of our club’s fundraising efforts go toward Camp O’Bannon, which is a summer camp that allows more than 400 disadvantaged children to enjoy a week of bonding, playing games and swimming, among other exciting activities. Our club supports many other local charitable efforts as well, such as the YMCA’s Healthy Kids Network, the new Boys and Girls Club, Salvation Army, and more.

The Kiwanis Club of Newark meets every Monday from 11:45 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel, 50 N. Second Street, Newark, Ohio. We enjoy lunch, fellowship, and a guest speaker from the community. Please join us at one of our meetings to learn more about what it means to be a Kiwanian. We would love to have you!

The Kiwanis Strawberry Festival is our premiere event. The festival — held the weekend after Memorial Day just east of the Downtown Square in Newark — draws thousands of people from across Central Ohio. The Strawberry Festival features arts and craft vendors, musical entertainment, a Miss Strawberry pageant, fireworks display and our famous Newark Kiwanis Strawberry Shortcakes (just look for the bright yellow trailer)! Other annual events include Pancake Day in late February at the Grove by the River, and the annual Fish Fry held in September at Camp O’Bannon.

In addition to our service initiatives, Newark Kiwanis sponsors many other service organizations. We are proud of our association with the Key Clubs of Newark High School and Newark Catholic High School, a K Kids Club in Newark elementary schools, and a Builders Club in Newark middle sshools. We also help sponsor the Aktion Club of Licking County, which is a service club for adults with disabilities, and a new OSU-N/Circle K Club.

Please contact us to join us for lunch as our Guest. We meet Mondays from 11:45 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel, 50 N. Second Street, Newark, Ohio.

Kiwanis Service

Service is at the heart of every Kiwanis club, no matter where in the world it’s located. Members stage approximately 150,000 service projects and raise nearly US$100 million every year for communities, families and projects. By working together, members achieve what one person cannot accomplish alone.

Our Kiwanis club focuses on changing the world by serving children, one child in our community at a time. To reach more people and have a greater service impact on their communities, many clubs sponsor a Kiwanis family club — K-Kids for primary school children; Builders Clubs for adolescents; Key Clubs for teens; Circle K clubs for university students and Aktion Clubs for adults living with disabilities.
